In this multi-age exploration of Hinduism, students will examine how traditions, beliefs and practices have evolved over thousands of years, shaping art, literature, philosophy and daily life across South Asia and beyond. Using both primary sources (ancient texts, art and oral stories) and secondary sources (modern interpretations and historical analysis), learners will gain an understanding of Hinduism’s key ideas — including dharma (duty), karma (action) and the cycle of life. Together, we’ll explore how these concepts are reflected in festivals, sacred spaces, storytelling and cultural expressions. Lessons will be adapted for each age group, allowing younger students to engage through stories and visuals, while older learners will dive deeper into comparative religion, symbolism and historical context. This course is non-sectarian and studies Hinduism through the lenses of history, literature and social science. It aims to foster understanding, curiosity and respect for diverse ways of seeing and celebrating the world we share. Meet the program instructor: Darby Breaux-Vickers  Darby Breaux-Vickers of Sunflower Learning Community has engaged with children for more than 10 years and recently completed a Master of the Arts in Religions Studies.
