For convenience, drums may be purchased at registration for an additional $40 and are yours to keep, which allows students to practice, play and extend their learning at home. Tuition also includes thoughtfully curated, take-home resources that reinforce learning beyond the classroom, including an illustrated song booklet with a digital download code, a music CD, a “Music and Your Child” parent guide and drumming pattern pages to support continued growth and confidence.Rhythm Kids® is designed for children ages 4–8 who are ready to take on new challenges, collaborate with peers and explore how music works. This high-energy class invites students to drum, sing, dance and move while learning rhythms and songs inspired by musical traditions from around the world.Each weekly class features engaging group and individual activities that help students compose, choreograph, and conduct music. Through playful, movement-based learning, students build confidence, focus, leadership, executive functioning and cognitive flexibility. Specially trained instructors create an encouraging environment where children can learn at their own pace and feel proud of their progress.Students will explore musical traditions from places like Puerto Rico and Ghana, sing and move to original songs, and create music together with their classmates. And perhaps best of all, students will experience the joys of being a “Jaguar in the Jungle.” All 22 musical selections in this collection are thoughtfully chosen to support each child’s musical development.Meet the program instructor: Erin Flory Robertson, Riverside Family MusicErin earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Goshen College and an Masters in the Arts in Oboe Performance from Wichita State University. She taught public school music for seven years before starting a family. She is the director and lead teacher with Riverside Family Music and has been teaching the Music Together® early childhood music curriculum for the past 13 years, including Rhythm Kids® for the past eight years. She earned her Certification Level 1 from Music Together® in 2017. In addition to her directing and teaching work with RFM, Erin also has a private oboe and piano studio and plays piano at a church in Riverside. She and her husband founded the folk/classical duo, cellOboe, and do gigs in the community when time allows.
