Ignite. Empower. Lead. with The Society of Child EntrepreneursProgram Schedule: Jan. 9-March 6 This class will meet weekly from 10-11a.m. on Fridays. Recommended Ages: 3rd-8th grades Students should have a basic understanding of addition and subtraction and be able to independently read and write before participating in this class. Cost: $100 (members), $110 (nonmembers) Designed for ages 8-13, this dynamic program empowers kids to build confidence, creativity and real-world business skills through story-based lessons, hands-on projects and teamwork. Students will explore key topics like money management, leadership, communication and innovation—all while developing their own unique business ideas. Throughout the program, young entrepreneurs will turn their ideas into action by designing, budgeting and refining a business concept that solves a real-world problem. With support from peers and mentors, students will learn to think critically, collaborate effectively and overcome challenges with creativity and confidence. The program stacks with an additional prep course in the fourth quarter, culminating both class experiences in a student business fair and learning showcase event held at Learning Lab Wichita, where students proudly present their businesses to families, friends, and community members—celebrating their growth as innovators and entrepreneurs. By the end of the program, students will be able to: Develop and pitch an original business idea using design thinking and creativity. Demonstrate financial literacy by budgeting, identifying expenses and revenue, and understanding profit. Build leadership and communication skills through teamwork, public speaking and persuasive presentations.Apply social-emotional strategies to stay resilient, manage stress and learn from failure. Create a personal business portfolio and display to share their entrepreneurial journey at the final showcase. Meet the program instructor: Leah Ellis Leah Ellis is an educator, nonprofit leader and entrepreneur dedicated to empowering youth through creativity, financial literacy and real-world experience. As founder and Executive Director of The Society of Child Entrepreneurs (SoCE), Leah helps students ages 6-17 turn ideas into businesses, develop leadership skills and gain lifelong entrepreneurial and emotional intelligence skills. Leah created “Ignite. Empower. Lead.,” a 36-week curriculum integrating storytelling, hands-on learning and national standards. Her children’s book series, “Astra & Zeke,” introduces business concepts through engaging narratives.
