Forensics FunProgram Schedule: Jan. 9-March 6 This class will meet weekly from 2-3 p.m. on Fridays   Recommended Ages: 4th-8th grades  Cost: $90 (members), $110 (nonmembers) Unlock the secrets of crime scene investigation in Forensic Fun, an exciting, hands-on science series designed for curious learners ready to explore the world of forensic science. This introductory program introduces students to real investigative procedures and various types of evidence, using fun and interactive lab activities to bring science to life.  Students will:  Learn how evidence is collected and used to solve crimes  Practice effective communication and make real-world connections  Strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills  Develop scientific inquiry through the scientific method  Build a lifelong love for learning and science Each week focuses on a different area of forensics, including fingerprint analysis, trace evidence, DNA, crime scene basics, anthropology and more. No prior experience is necessary; a curious mind and a willingness to explore are encouraged. Meet the program instructor: Chitra Harris Chitra Harris is an award-winning former high school forensic science teacher who loves educating students with aha! CSI moments and hands-on learning experiences. Chitra was instrumental in setting up Forensic Science 1 & 2 classes in the USD 259 Career and Technical Education pathway “Corrections, Security, Law & Law Enforcement Services.” Having served on the Kansas State Board of Education's advisory committee, Chitra was able to collaborate to develop the current state-wide Forensic Science competencies.
