Intro to Cooking Program Schedule: Oct. 23-Dec. 18 This class will meet weekly on Fridays from 4-5 p.m. Recommended Ages: 2nd-5th grades This class is limited to 15 students. Students should be proficient in their respective reading and writing levels to engage in class activities. Students must wear closed-toed shoes. Cost: $200 (Members), $200 (Nonmembers) Students will build foundational kitchen skills through hands-on cooking experiences designed specifically for elementary-aged learners. In this class, participants will prepare healthy, no-bake recipes while learning about the components of balanced meals and snacks. Students will practice essential skills such as safe food preparation, basic knife techniques and kitchen independence in a fun and supportive environment. All materials will be provided, and participants will take home recipes to continue practicing their new skills with family. Meet the program instructor: Keeleigh Smith Keeleigh is the owner of and baker at Sugar Lab LLC and a Behavior Intervention Specialist for USD 259. Her passions include special education, behavior, teaching and baking. She offers baking classes through Sugar Lab and assists with cooking and baking classes at Sur La Table.
