Friday Drawing Club

Friday Drawing Club Program Schedule: Aug. 21-Oct. 9 This class will meet weekly on Fridays from 10-11 a.m. Recommended Ages: 6th -12th grades Cost: $90 (Members), $108 (Nonmembers) Each week, students will be introduced to a new object and challenged to create an original 8x10 drawing inspired by it. Students may choose to draw the object realistically or use it as inspiration for a more imaginative, abstract, or conceptual piece.  With access to a variety of drawing materials, students will experiment with different techniques, styles, and approaches to expand their creativity and artistic voice. For example, a simple object like a plastic alligator could inspire a detailed observational drawing, a focus on texture and pattern, or a completely reimagined concept, such as transforming its features into something entirely new. There is no single “right” approach, encouraging students to think creatively and take artistic risks. Students will be encouraged to continue working on their pieces outside of class and bring them back the following week to share, reflect, and receive feedback before beginning a new prompt. This studio-style environment fosters creativity, confidence, and a supportive artistic community. Meet the program instructor: Geli Chavez Geli Chavez is a multidisciplinary artist and creative conceptualist based in Wichita, Kansas.
