Valentine’s Box Competition Program Schedule: Friday, Feb. 6 This event will be held in the Gather Commons from noon -1 p.m. Recommended Ages: K-12th grades Cost: $0 Students are invited to join the fun and show off their creativity in our Valentine’s Box Competition on Friday, Feb. 6. Students will have the chance to design and display their own Valentine’s box, vote for their favorite boxes and enjoy a treat after voting! Final Valentine’s box submissions may be dropped off beginning Wednesday, Feb. 4, and must be taken home by the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 6. Voting will take place via iPads in the Gather Commons, and prizes will be awarded to the top five boxes based on the following criteria: Creativity & Originality – Showcases unique ideas, imaginative themes, and creative use of materials. Overall Presentation – Demonstrates strong visual appeal, attention to detail, effort, and quality craftsmanship. Functionality – Effectively holds valentines, is easy to use, and maintains its structure during display and transport. Safety & School Appropriateness – Uses safe, non-fragile, and school-appropriate materials with no sharp, hazardous or breakable components. Students are welcome, but not required, to make valentines for classmates’ and community members’ boxes. Leading up to the competition, students can also make simple, homemade valentines at pop-up stations during lunch and recess, supported by Learning Lab staff.
