World Mythology: Ancient Greece Program Schedule: Oct. 23-Dec. 18 This class will meet weekly on Fridays from 11a.m.-noon. Recommended Ages: 6th-12th grades Students should be proficient in their respective reading and writing levels to engage in class activities. This class is limited to 15 students. Cost: $90 (Members), $100 (Nonmembers) Step into a world of ancient stories, powerful symbols and timeless lessons. Each week of quarter 2, students will journey ancient Greece to meet powerful and complicated deities. Through hands-on activities, creative storytelling and group discussions, learners will compare myths and uncover the shared values, hopes and lessons hidden within them. Students will see how mythology connects people across time and place through the art of story. By the end of the course, students will recognize major deities from ancient Greek mythology and understand how these stories express the beliefs, creativity and values of the culture – and how their lessons continue to inspire our modern world.
