Amazon Jungle Journey: Art & Animals Program Schedule: Aug. 21-Oct. 9 This class will meet weekly on Fridays from 11 a.m.-noon Recommended Ages: K-5th grades  Cost: $90 (Members), $108 (Nonmembers) Take a creative journey down the Amazon River. In this hands-on class, students become explorers with paintbrushes in hand as they discover the amazing animals of the rainforest. Each week, students will learn about a unique jungle animal, like the fascinating pink river dolphin, and explore fun facts about its habitat and behavior. Students will then create artwork inspired by the animal or participate in art-based science activities connected to what they’ve learned. This class blends creativity, curiosity and science, helping students connect art with the natural world in an exciting and memorable way. Meet the program instructor: Geli Chavez Geli Chavez is a multidisciplinary artist and creative conceptualist based in Wichita, Kansas. Her vibrant illustrations and designs celebrate identity, joy and the magic in everyday life. Geli’s art invites viewers to embrace individuality through playful and empowering visuals. As program coordinator at Arts Partners Wichita, she integrates the arts into education, fostering creativity in K-12 students. Her work spans various mediums, including the co-illustrated children’s book “A Lot of Miles.” Geli’s community involvement reflects her commitment to transforming lives through art.
