Stambaugh is the author of two books about dyslexia, “What's RIGHT With Me?” and her newest release, “Thriving With Dyslexia.” During this September event, Joan will share an introduction to dyslexia, stories and insights from “Thriving With Dyslexia” and a behind-the-scenes look at her journey as an author with dyslexia. You'll leave this event with a deeper understanding of dyslexia and the strengths that often accompany it. Books will be available for purchase, and Learning Lab will give away a few signed copies for attendees. In “Thriving with Dyslexia,” Joan shares stories of dyslexic individuals who overcame obstacles and transformed their struggles into superpowers through resilience, determination, and unique talents in creativity, leadership and problem-solving. Participants' stories include individuals who have earned Eagle Scout recognition, young entrepreneurs and academic statistics that represent success when schools provide specialized instruction. Joan Stambaugh is an advocate for individuals with dyslexia and speaks out on behalf of those who need specialized instruction and support in school. A former special education teacher, Joan currently works as a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and assessor at the Phillips Fundamental Learning Center (PFLC). A dyslexic herself, Joan is writing her second book to help readers understand the positive side of dyslexia and the superpowers associated with neurodiversity.  She and her husband reside in Wichita, Kansas, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
